On March 7, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Mariana Betsa held a meeting with Apostolic Nuncio to Ukraine Archbishop Visvaldas Kulbokas.
At the beginning of the meeting, Mariana Betsa expressed her wishes for the speedy recovery of Pope Francis and thanked him for his support of Ukraine in its struggle for a just peace. “We sincerely thank the Vatican for its solidarity with the Ukrainian people, for its prayers, and for its comprehensive support,” the diplomat noted.
The Deputy Minister briefly informed her interlocutor about Ukraine’s recent international activities, particularly the adoption of the UN General Assembly resolution “Promoting a Comprehensive, Just, and Lasting Peace in Ukraine,” which marked an important victory for Ukrainian diplomacy.
The main focus of the meeting was strengthening cooperation in various formats to facilitate the return of Ukrainian children illegally deported by Russia, as well as deepening bilateral cooperation.
The Deputy Minister expressed gratitude to the Holy See for its consistent support of Ukraine in efforts to return Ukrainian children forcibly deported by Russia, as well as for addressing other humanitarian issues caused by Russian aggression.
