22 April 2026 20:07

On April 22, Mariana Betsa, Ukraine’s Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs, held a meeting with a delegation of the McCain Institute, one of the leading U.S. think tanks, led by the Institute’s Executive Director Dr. Evelyn Farkas.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the security situation and Ukraine’s need for further defence support and emphasized the critical importance of providing our country with reliable and effective security guarantees as a key prerequisite for achieving a just and lasting peace.

Particular attention was paid to the need for increasing the sanctions pressure on the Russian Federation in order to limit its ability to continue the war against Ukraine and to hold the aggressor state accountable for all crimes committed.

“Holding the Russian Federation to full and inevitable accountability is a vital element in restoring justice, upholding international law and ensuring that no further acts of aggression are committed against Ukraine, Europe and the entire democratic world,” emphasized M. Betsa.

During the conversation, the parties also discussed prospects for cooperation between Ukraine and the U.S. in the field of defence technologies, as well as global challenges related to the escalation in the Middle East.
