On May 26, consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the United Mexican States took place in the format of a videoconference.

Director of the Third Territorial Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Ihor Prokopchuk and Director General of the Directorate of Europe of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Mexico Bernardo Aguilar Calvo discussed topical issues of Ukrainian-Mexican relations and cooperation between the two countries within international organizations.

The Ukrainian side noted the prospects of expanding bilateral cooperation with Mexico in the energy, aerospace, petrochemical, mining and agricultural sectors.

The parties agreed to intensify work on the draft bilateral agreements, which are being considered by the competent authorities of the two countries.

The Mexican side confirmed its interest in holding the Second Meeting of the Ukrainian-Mexican Intergovernmental Commission.

The heads of departments discussed events to mark in January 2022 the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Ukraine and the United Mexican States.

Igor Prokopchuk expressed gratitude for Mexico's support for Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity and expressed hope for the Mexican side's involvement in the implementation of the Crimea Platform.

The parties also discussed measures taken by the governments of the two countries in the context of overcoming the COVID-19 pandemic.

For reference: In January-February 2021, the volume of bilateral trade in goods between Ukraine and Mexico increased by 34.6% and amounted to $ 53.8 million. The volume of exports of goods from Ukraine to Mexico amounted to $ 13.9 million (an increase of 52.3% compared to the same period in 2020). The basis of Ukrainian exports of goods to Mexico are fertilizers, pharmaceuticals, tobacco, nuclear reactors, boilers, machines.
