On December 2, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Mykola Tochytskyi held political consultations with Deputy Secretary of State of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Poland Marcin Pszydacz in Warsaw.

The consultations were devoted to the 30th anniversary of the recognition by Poland of the restored independence of Ukraine, which fell on December 2. The interlocutors congratulated each other on this momentous event in the history of our two countries.

Mykola Tochytskyi expressed solidarity with the Polish side over the migration crisis artificially created by Moscow and Minsk on the Polish-Belarusian border and informed about the steps taken by Ukraine to strengthen the Ukrainian section of the state border with Belarus.

Deputy Ministers discussed the state and prospects of strengthening bilateral cooperation in the energy sector, improving efficiency of checkpoints on the Ukrainian-Polish border, implementing cultural, humanitarian and scientific-educational projects, cooperation on a common historical past, and ensuring the rights of national minorities in Ukraine and Poland.

Mykola Tochytskyi expressed gratitude to Poland for the decisive support of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, for the practical help in the realization of the course of our country for the membership in the EU and NATO. The diplomat stressed how important was the signing by the Presidents Volodymyr Zelenskyi and Andrzej Duda of the Joint Declaration on the European Perspective of Ukraine in Warsaw on May 3, 2021 for Ukraine on this way.

The interlocutors positively noted the growth of bilateral trade and expressed the readiness for further cooperation in trade and investment areas.

The representatives of the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and Poland discussed cooperation within the framework of the Polish presidency at the OSCE next year.

The deputy ministers highly appreciated the level of cooperation between Ukraine, Poland and Lithuania within the framework of the Lublin Triangle. In this context, the holding of the first online meeting of the presidents of the three countries on the same day was especially noted.

Mykola Tochytskyi and Marcin Pszydacz confirmed the common position of the two countries on the risks and threats posed by the Russian gas pipeline Nord Stream 2 to Europe's energy security and emphasized that Russia's use of energy resources as a means of political pressure and blackmail is unacceptable.
