The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine provided Ukrainian exporters with advice on entering the Kenyan market
07 February 2024 18:17

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine continues a series of briefings for representatives of national businesses with the embassies of Ukraine in African countries.

Today was the second online event in 2024, organized by the Department of Economic Diplomacy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs jointly with the international platform "Nazovni" and the Embassy of Ukraine in Kenya.

The event was attended by Head of the Department of Economic Diplomacy Liudmyla Yenina and Ambassador of Ukraine to Kenya Andrii Pravednyk.

Today's event was aimed at surveying and defining the prospects, needs, features and current state of the Kenyan market. The event was aimed at discussing ways to assist Ukrainian exporters in entering the African market with the help of diplomatic support and the functionality of the "Nazovni" platform.

Kenya is one of the most developed countries in Africa, with a strong industry, a developed IT sector and stable democratic institutions. Kenya is considered one of the fastest growing economies in Africa, as it grew by 5.9% annually before the Covid-19 pandemic. Also, Ukrainian products meet the country's standards, which makes them extremely attractive for export.

The African market is currently one of the most promising in the world in terms of development rates, and Kenya is one of the largest players. In addition, the country has stable ties with other countries on the continent, it is one of the "gateways" to Africa, has a developed logistics system, and most importantly, is interested in cooperation with European countries.

It should be noted that the area of responsibility of the Embassy of Ukraine in Kenya covers Burundi, Malawi, Rwanda, the Union of the Comoros, Tanzania and Uganda. Most of these countries outline food security as one of the key elements of their economic development strategy. The national governments of these countries will support this work, which means that Ukrainian exporting companies will be able to receive state support for their activities when entering local markets.

Lyudmyla Yenina emphasized the readiness of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine to provide the necessary assistance to domestic producers by using the mechanisms of the "Nazovni" program to promote and expand the range of Ukrainian products on the Kenyan market, organize business missions, forums, and exhibitions, which in turn will help increase business contacts and develop the dynamics of bilateral trade.

Andrii Pravednyk informed the representatives of Ukrainian business about the current economic situation in the country and outlined the prospects for exporting Ukrainian products. The Ambassador of Ukraine to Kenya provided comprehensive practical recommendations on how to enter the Kenyan market and paid special attention to the existing risks and ways to reduce commercial losses.

Considering the interest of the Kenyan consumer in Ukrainian products, the most promising area for increasing exports of Ukrainian products is agricultural products.
