The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine held a briefing for Ukrainian exporters on the specifics of entering the Spanish market
08 December 2023 18:00

On the basis of the Nazovni platform, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine and the Embassy of Ukraine in Spain held an online briefing titled "Entering the market and doing business in Spain" for representatives of the domestic business community.

The event was attended by Liudmyla Yenina, Director of the Economic Diplomacy Department, and Sergiy Pogoreltsev, Ambassador of Ukraine to Spain.

The participants of the briefing discussed the ways to help Ukrainian exporters enter the Spanish market with the help of diplomatic support and the functionality of the international platform Nazovni.

Liudmyla Yenina emphasized the significant potential for the development of bilateral trade between Ukraine and Spain and the prospects for Ukrainian exporters to enter the EU markets. She emphasized that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is ready to support domestic producers by using Nazovni mechanisms to promote and expand the range of Ukrainian products on the Spanish market, organize business missions, forums and exhibitions. Such measures, in turn, will have a positive impact on the intensity of business contacts and the development of bilateral trade dynamics in general.

The Ambassador of Ukraine Sergiy Pogoreltsev and the economic diplomat of the Embassy informed the Ukrainian businessmen about the current economic situation in the country, outlined the main points of bilateral trade, the prospects of exporting Ukrainian products to Spain, as well as the opportunities offered by Spain for entering the Latin American and African markets. The diplomats said that the Embassy is working to create special conditions for Ukrainian campaigns to participate in trade fairs in 2024, and gave practical recommendations on how to enter the Spanish market.

Given the interest of Spanish consumers in Ukrainian products, the most promising areas for increasing exports of Ukrainian products are cereals, wood products, furniture, industrial and consumer goods, confectionery and food.

Ukraine and Spain have significant potential for the development of bilateral trade cooperation, and business should be the driver of this process.

For reference: Spain is Ukraine's 12th largest trading partner in the world in terms of trade in goods and ranks 6th in the world in terms of Ukrainian exports (after Poland, Romania, China, Turkey and Germany) (* according to the Export Support Office for 01-10.2023). Ukraine ranks only 37th among the countries supplying products to Spain.

“Nazovni” is a digital service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, which helps Ukrainian companies to enter foreign markets and establish themselves.
