Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrii Sybiha: "I was pleased to speak with my Spanish friend and colleague José Manuel Albares. 

We discussed Ukraine’s urgent air defence priorities in the face of Moscow’s continued escalation of missile and drone attacks. I also briefed him on the consequences of Russia’s relentless strikes against civilians and critical infrastructure, and the need to accelerate the delivery of air defence capabilities to protect Ukrainian lives. 

We also focused on strengthening the defence capabilities of both Ukraine and Europe, including through closer defence cooperation and joint efforts to expand production capacities. Russia’s escalating aggression requires a stronger and more coordinated European response. 

We discussed progress towards Ukraine’s EU membership, particularly the opening of negotiating clusters. Grateful to Spain for its steadfast support and commitment to advancing our shared security".
