On May 13, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Yevhen Perebyinis met with a delegation of the Security Committee of the Chamber of Deputies of the Czech Republic headed by its Chairman Pavel Žáček, who also leads the “Friendship Group” with Ukraine in the lower house of the parliament.

Yevhen Perebyinis expressed gratitude to the Czech Republic for its comprehensive support and unconditional assistance to our country, including the provision of weapons and military equipment from the first days of Russia's full-scale invasion.

The Deputy Minister informed his counterparts about the latest steps of the Ukrainian side towards achieving a comprehensive, just and lasting peace in cooperation with European partners and the United States.

The two sides discussed a number of topical issues related to bilateral cooperation, paying particular attention to Ukraine's integration into the European Union and post-war reconstruction.

The Deputy Minister presented Pavel Žáček with the Order of Merit of the III degree, awarded by President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy for his significant personal contribution to the support of Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as for promoting our country in the world. Yevgen Perebyinis specifically highlighted the key role of Pavel Žáček in the preparation and adoption of a number of important decisions of the Czech Parliament in support of Ukraine, including his authorship of the resolution recognizing the Holodomor of 1932-1933 as genocide of the Ukrainian people, which was adopted in April 2022.

Yevhen Perebyinis expressed his gratitude to the Czech MP for his longtanding efforts to support Ukraine and to expose the crimes of the communists during his tenure as the first director of the Czech Institute for the Study of Totalitarian Regimes.
