On the 8th of January, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Olexandr Mischenko met with the leaders of one of Latvia’s largest charitable organizations, "Tavi Draugi".
The parties discussed ways to enhance support for the Armed Forces of Ukraine from Latvia's civil society, particularly through the initiation of new humanitarian initiatives and the expansion of existing ones.
Special attention was paid to the organization’s plans for delivering the next humanitarian convoy to Ukraine, consisting of 15 fire trucks for the State Emergency Service of Ukraine units operating in frontline cities.
Olexandr Mischenko expressed gratitude to the leaders and all the volunteers of "Tavi Draugi" for their tireless efforts in supporting Ukraine. He also thanked them for their participation in projects aimed at restoring the medical infrastructure in the Chernihiv region, which suffered as a result of Russian aggression.
In turn, representatives of "Tavi Draugi" reaffirmed their unwavering support for Ukraine and its Armed Forces in their struggle against the aggressor state by providing essential volunteer assistance.
For reference: Since the first days of Russia's full-scale invasion of Ukraine, the Latvian charitable organization "Tavi Draugi", led by volunteers Ulvis Noviks and Kaspars Berzinš, has been providing invaluable assistance to Ukraine. This includes supplying medical equipment, gear, generators, camouflage nets, communication devices, and other critical items to the military, as well as aiding Ukraine’s civilian population.
