On 8 January, Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Yevhen Perebyinis met with Chairman of the EU Affairs Committee of the German Bundestag Anton Hofreiter (Alliance 90/The Greens). Deputy Co-Chair of the Alliance 90/The Greens faction in the Bundestag Agnieszka Brugger also participated in the meeting.
During the talks, the parties discussed cooperation between the two countries on the path to Ukraine's European and Euro-Atlantic integration, the current situation in Ukraine, the critical needs of the Defenсe Forces and the energy sector of Ukraine. The interlocutors paid special attention to the threats from the Russian Federation, the importance of further strengthening sanctions pressure on the aggressor country and eliminating ways for Russia to circumvent sanctions.
The Deputy Minister expressed his gratitude to the German side for the comprehensive support and noted the important role of Germany in strengthening Ukraine's defence capabilities. In this context, Yevhen Perebyinis emphasized that Ukraine counts on Germany's continued support in the negotiation process on Ukraine's accession to the EU and assistance in granting Ukraine an invitation to join NATO as soon as possible.
The German parliamentarians briefed on the political situation in Germany and assured the Ukrainian side of further military, financial and economic assistance to Ukraine in countering Russian aggression.
