On September 29, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Olexandr Mischenko held a working meeting with the Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Ukraine, Toyly Atayev.

Deputy Minister congratulated Ambassador Atayev on the occasion of Turkmenistan’s Independence Day and conveyed a congratulatory letter from the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Andrii Sybiha, addressed to Rashid Meredov, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.

During the conversation, the parties discussed issues of bilateral relations, opportunities for intensifying trade and economic cooperation, cultural and humanitarian contacts.

The Ukrainian side emphasises its openness to resuming a more substantive dialogue, in particular through political consultations between foreign ministries and preparations for the next meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Economic, Cultural and Humanitarian Cooperation. It also expressed its readiness to facilitate the education of students from Turkmenistan at Ukrainian higher education institutions.
