25 March 2026 20:17

On March 25, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Olexandr Mischenko held a working meeting with the Chairman of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland and Commissioner of the Government of Poland for the Reconstruction of Ukraine, Paweł Kowal. The meeting was also attended by the Chargé d'Affaires of the Republic of Poland in Ukraine, Piotr Łukasiewicz.

The Deputy Minister expressed gratitude to the Republic of Poland and the Polish people for their genuine solidarity, unwavering and steadfast support, as well as comprehensive assistance to Ukraine from the first days of the full-scale Russian invasion. “Millions of Ukrainians sincerely appreciate the reliable shelter provided to them by Polish citizens and will always remember this expression of fraternal support,” Olexandr Mischenko underscored.

Paweł Kowal emphasized that Poland has been making every possible effort to support our state throughout the entire period of Russian aggression against Ukraine. He also assured of its readiness to continue providing exhaustive assistance at all possible levels in order to strengthen the sovereignty and preserve the territorial integrity of Ukraine.

The parties noted significant progress in the mutual granting of permits for search and exhumation works on the territory of Ukraine and Poland. In particular, the search works launched on March 23 by a joint Ukrainian-Polish expedition in the village of Uhly, Rivne region, are important evidence of constructive pragmatic interaction in resolving historical issues.

In this context, the Deputy Minister noted the effective preparation by the parties for the Ukrainian-Polish Conference (Forum) of Historians to be held in Poland on May 6-8, the purpose of which is to discuss the most complex issues of the common past at the professional level of historians of both countries.

The parties also held in-depth discussions on Poland’s participation in the reconstruction of our country, particularly in the context of the Ukraine Recovery Conference (URC 2026), which will take place in Gdańsk on 25–26 June. The sides emphasized the importance of ensuring the clear implementation of concrete steps and measures in preparation for the Conference, with a view to achieving tangible practical results for the effective reconstruction of Ukraine.

In this regard, Olexandr Mischenko noted the importance of the successful holding of the event in the format "On the Way to URC", scheduled for April 27 in Rzeszów, with a primary focus on security and defense issues in the context of Russia’s ongoing war against Ukraine.
