On August 22, a working meeting of government and business representatives on the intensification of cooperation in the agro-industrial sector with the African countries took place in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine. The Special Representative of Ukraine for the Middle East and Africa Maksym Subkh and Acting Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food of Ukraine Taras Vysotskyi chaired the meeting.
The event was attended online and offline by the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Committee on Agrarian and Land Policy, MP of Ukraine Oleksandr Haydu, representatives of the Office of the President of Ukraine, the leadership of the Federation of Employers of Ukraine, the Ukrainian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the international export promotion platform Nazovni, the head of LLC «Ukrainian-African Trade Mission» Artem Gudkov, ambassadors and chargé d'affaires ad interim of Ukraine in ten African countries, as well as representatives of more than 70 Ukrainian companies of the agro-industrial complex.
The event was held within the framework of the implementation of Ukraine's foreign policy strategy aimed at strengthening Ukrainian-African relations, as well as to fulfill the goals set by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy at the 2024 conference of heads of Ukraine's foreign diplomatic missions in terms of importance of strengthening cooperation with the African countries.
As part of the implementation of agreements reached as outcomes of the African tour of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba in August this year, the participants of the meeting discussed interaction and support of Ukrainian manufacturers in entering the African markets, as well as the expansion of trade and economic cooperation with the African countries.
«Expansion of the traditional structure of export-import operations is an important incentive that will contribute to the development of Ukrainian-African cooperation in the agricultural sphere. This can be achieved by using modern technologies available in Ukraine, unique experience and knowledge in the field of grain cultivation, production of agricultural machinery, transfer of technologies for increasing soil fertility, pest control, irrigation and land reclamation, overcoming the consequences of natural disasters», - noted the Special Representative of Ukraine for the Middle East and Africa Maksym Subkh.
