On 25 November 2020, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Vasyl Bodnar and Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cyprus Kornelios Korneliou held political consultations between the MFA of the two countries.
The Deputy Minister and Permanent Secretary discussed bilateral relations in the political and economic areas, and cooperation in the framework of international organizations, in particular within the UN and EU.
Vasyl Bodnar briefed Kornelios Korneliou on the situation in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine and invited Cyprus to join the initiative «The Crimean Platform».
Permanent Secretary emphasized unwavering support by his country of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, as well as solid position on keeping in line with the EU policy on sanctions against the Russian Federation.
He also gave assurances that Cyprus will further support by all means the European integration aspirations of Ukraine.
Vasyl Bodnar and Kornelios Korneliou agreed to hold in the near time a working meeting of Ministers of Finance of Ukraine and Cyprus who co-chair the Intergovernmental Ukraine-Cyprus Commission on Economic Matters. Preparations for the next joint session of the Commission will be discussed during the meeting.
