On June 1, First Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine, Chair of the National Commission of Ukraine for UNESCO Emine Dzhaparova held online meeting with the Chair of the National Commission of Morocco for UNESCO Saaid Amzazi.
Emine Dzhaparova informed her counterpart about the activities of the National Commission of Ukraine and on the course of reform, which, in particular, will provide for the creation of new sectors in the National Commission in accordance with the priority areas of UNESCO. In this regard, the counterparts discussed strengthening cooperation between the national commissions of the two countries in the areas of digitalization, gender equality and inclusivity.
The Chair of the National Commission of Ukraine for UNESCO also noted a great potential for cooperation between the two countries through UNESCO on matters of access to education, protecting the rights of indigenous peoples, establishing contacts between UNESCO associated schools and departments.
The First Deputy Minister thanked her counterpart for Morocco's readiness to join the international flashmob of video greetings initiated by the President of Ukraine and the National Commission of Ukraine for UNESCO on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the founding of UNESCO.
The Moroccan official spoke about the experience and main activities of the National Commission both at UNESCO and at regional levels. One of the most important areas for Morocco is to strengthen the role of women in society by providing an appropriate level of education and by creating opportunities for realizing their potential in professional activities. Saaid Amzazi also reaffirmed his readiness to intensify bilateral cooperation, in particular in the field of education.
