On July 16, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Yevhen Perebyinis met with Parliamentary State Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Justice and Consumer Protection of Germany Frank Schwabe.
Yevhen Perebyinis expressed gratitude to Germany for its comprehensive support to Ukraine since the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion, including humanitarian, financial, security and defense assistance. The Deputy Minister also thanked Frank Schwabe for his consistent support for efforts to hold Russia accountable for crimes committed against Ukraine, in particular in the context of the launch of the Special Tribunal for the Crime of Aggression.
During the meeting, the interlocutors discussed the current security situation, ways to achieve comprehensive, just and lasting peace, as well as further steps by the international community to increase pressure on the aggressor state. In this context, Yevhen Perebyinis stressed the importance of further increasing sanctions pressure on Russia to limit its ability to continue an aggressive war against Ukraine.
The parties paid special attention to Ukraine's European integration. Yevhen Perebyinis conveyed our gratitude to Germany for its active support for the opening of the first and sixth negotiation clusters and stressed the importance of opening the remaining clusters as soon as possible.
The interlocutors also discussed the current state of implementation of bilateral agreements and prospects for further development of the Ukrainian-German strategic partnership. Yevhen Perebyinis emphasized that the dynamics of bilateral dialogue and deepening practical cooperation meet the common interests of Ukraine and Germany and contribute to strengthening security and stability in Europe.
Frank Schwabe, in turn, confirmed Germany's unwavering support for Ukraine and assured of readiness to further contribute to the strengthening of the Ukrainian-German strategic partnership. He also expressed gratitude to the Ukrainian people for their courageous defense of common European values.
