On July 16, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Yevhen Perebyinis met with the President of the Brittany region of the French Republic, Loïg Chesnais-Girard, who is in Ukraine on his first visit.
The interlocutors discussed the development of the partnership between the Brittany region and the Kherson region, officially launched in February 2026, as well as the prospects for deepening Ukrainian-French interregional cooperation.
Yevhen Perebyinis expressed gratitude to the Brittany region for its consistent support of Ukraine and noted the practical contribution of the region to strengthening the security of the Kherson region. In particular, he emphasized the successful implementation of the initiative to transfer more than a thousand kilometers of fishing nets by Breton fishermen, which are already used to protect against Russian drones.
The parties paid special attention to supporting Ukraine's accession to the European Union, in particular the development of cooperation within the European Committee of the Regions. In this context, the importance of further strengthening sanctions pressure on Russia was also emphasized.
The meeting also discussed the expansion of recreation and health programs for Ukrainian children in Brittany, as well as support for Ukraine's energy sector on the eve of the heating season in the context of ongoing Russian attacks on critical energy infrastructure.
Loïg Chesnais-Girard confirmed the unwavering support of the Brittany region for Ukraine and assured of his readiness to continue to facilitate the implementation of joint humanitarian and economic projects. He emphasized that support for Ukraine is a reflection of France's solidarity with the Ukrainian people in their fight against Russian armed aggression.
