On September 3, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Yevhen Perebyinis held a meeting with Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Lithuania Kristupas Vaitiekūnas.

Yevhen Perebyinis informed his Lithuanian counterpart about the current security situation and Ukraine's preparations for another difficult winter amid continuous Russian attacks on the energy infrastructure. The Deputy Minister thanked Lithuania for its significant assistance to the Ukrainian energy sector and emphasized the importance of its continued provision to strengthen Ukraine's energy resilience.

Special attention during the meeting was paid to Ukraine's European integration path. Yevhen Perebyinis expressed gratitude to Lithuania for its firm and consistent support for Ukraine's accelerated accession to the European Union, in particular through the fastest possible opening of all negotiation clusters.

In this context, the Deputy Minister highly appreciated the inclusion of Ukraine's integration into the EU among the key priorities of Lithuania's Presidency of the Council of the EU in the first half of 2027. The parties agreed to closely coordinate further steps in this direction.

The interlocutors also discussed Lithuania's participation in the rebuilding of Ukraine. Yevhen Perebyinis thanked the Lithuanian side for its large-scale practical support and the implementation of diverse projects in the regions of Ukraine. Among them is a new school shelter in Sumy, built by Lithuania in cooperation with the EU and Ireland.

The parties also emphasized the need to further increase sanctions pressure on the Russian Federation.
