On March 12, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Yevhen Perebyinis met with a Czech delegation led by State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic Radek Rubeš and Government Commissioner for Ukraine's Reconstruction Tomáš Kopečný.
Yevhen Perebyinis expressed gratitude to the Czech Republic for its unwavering support of Ukraine and comprehensive assistance in counting Russian aggression, as well as for the initiative to continue and increase funding for the National Programme for the Recovery of Ukraine after 2025 as well as for patronage over Dnipropetrovsk Oblast. The discussion focused on Ukraine's priority needs, particularly in light of Russia's constant attacks on Ukraine's critical infrastructure. The Deputy Minister welcomed the initiative to further expand the scope of the Czechia’s recovery projects to other regions of our country.
Yevhen Perebyinis briefed the Czech side on the visit of the Ukrainian delegation to Brussels to participate in a bilateral meeting between Ukraine and the EU within the framework of the screening of legislation on negotiating Chapter 31 “Foreign, Security and Defense Policy”.
“Ukraine's accession to the European Union is our steadfast priority. We are doing our best to advance our EU accession negotiations,” stated Yevhen Perebyinis.
In response, the Czech side emphasized the Czech Republic's continued support for Ukraine's European integration and its readiness to continue providing necessary assistance in this process.
Yevhen Perebyinis thanked for the Czech Republic's support and expressed hope for a positive assessment from the European Commission the results of screening of Cluster 1 “Fundamentals” and Cluster 6 “External Relations”, which will able Ukraine to open them during the Polish Presidency of the EU Council in the first half of this year. He received assurances of the readiness of Czech experts to provide comprehensive assistance to the Government of Ukraine in the negotiation process with the EU, in particular in the context of opening a number of negotiation clusters.
During the meeting, the parties discussed preparations for the International Conference on Ukraine's Recovery (URC2025), which will be held in Rome in July this year. This Conference was highlighted as an important platform for showing Ukraine's progress on the path of reforms and economic sustainability, as well as its advancing EU accession. In this context, the Czech Republic's contribution to the financing and implementation of projects to restore Ukraine was highly praised.
