In this context, the importance of strengthening the role of Germany, as well as the E3 and E5 formats in achieving a just and sustainable peace, was emphasized. The parties also emphasized the need to further strengthen sanctions pressure on the Russian Federation in order to deprive it of the opportunity to continue the war.
The current situation in the energy sector of Ukraine was also discussed during the meeting. Yevhen Perebyinis requested Germany's support in preparing Ukraine for the autumn-winter period, given the high probability of new massive Russian attacks on critical energy infrastructure facilities.
Anton Hofreiter confirmed Germany's unchanged position on continuing long-term military, political, economic and humanitarian support to Ukraine in its fight against Russian armed aggression.
