On May 15, with the assistance of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, a visit was organized for more than 60 heads of diplomatic missions of foreign states and international organizations accredited in Ukraine to the site where a Russian missile struck a nine-story residential building in Kyiv’s Darnytskyi district. The participants honored the memory of the victims with a moment of silence.
A briefing for the diplomatic corps was conducted by Andrii Danyk, Head of the State Emergency Service of Ukraine, who informed participants about the consequences of the Russian strike on the residential building carried out with an Kh-101 missile. As a result of the attack, 24 people were killed, including three children. Another 48 people were injured. Foreign diplomats were also shown how the search and rescue operation was conducted, which lasted more than 28 hours.
Speaking before the foreign diplomats, Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Yevhen Perebyinis stressed that this attack was yet another deliberate Russian strike against civilians and demonstrated the aggressor state’s unwillingness to end this bloody war. According to him, the only way to force Russia to stop is through increased international pressure and by raising the cost of its aggression.
The Deputy Minister called on foreign partners to firmly condemn this crime, strengthen sanctions pressure on Russia, and provide Ukraine with additional air defense systems to protect civilians and prevent similar tragedies in the future. He also emphasized the need to hold accountable all those responsible for Russia’s crimes against the Ukrainian people.
