On April 26, Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Yevhen Perebyinis took part in a meeting of the G7+ Coordination Group on Ukraine’s Energy Sector Support on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the Chornobyl disaster.
At the opening of the meeting, Prime Minister of Ukraine Yulia Svyrydenko outlined priorities for preparation for the 2026-2027 heating season, necessary measures to strengthen energy resilience, and further integration into the EU energy system.
First Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Energy Denys Shmyhal presented to the partners the current state of the energy sector and key needs for its recovery and development.
The participants discussed the coordination of international support, infrastructure recovery, development of renewable and decentralized energy, as well as the implementation of resilience plans for regions and communities.
The parties paid special attention to the replenishment of the Ukraine Energy Support Fund as a key mechanism of international assistance. During the meeting, the partners announced the allocation of additional resources for preparations for the next heating season and agreed to work on further attracting funding to cover priority needs of the energy sector.
Foreign partners confirmed their readiness to continue supporting Ukraine.
The Ukrainian side expressed its gratitude to international partners for their solidarity and practical assistance, which strengthens the energy resilience of Ukraine, as well as the whole of Europe.
