On January 31, the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Yevhen Perebyinis had a meeting with a member of the French delegation to the NATO Parliamentary Assembly, Senator of the French Parliament Philippe Folliot.
Yevhen Perebyinis expressed gratitude for France's decision to provide our country with light wheeled tanks and armored personnel carriers along with Caesar howitzers and ammunition for them. The Deputy Minister expressed hope that France will take decision to provide the main battle tanks "Leclerc" to strengthen international "tank coalition", as well as additional weapons, in particular, advanced air defense systems.
Philippe Folliot, in his turn, underlined that his visit is an expression of solidarity and unwavering support for Ukraine. He will urge the French Government to increase the supply of armored vehicles and artillery systems to Ukraine.
The parties discussed the importance of strengthening sanctions against the aggressor, control over the transfer of dual-use technologies and goods as well as the creation of a Special Tribunal for the crime of Russia's aggression against Ukraine.
In the context of preparation for the Vilnius NATO summit in July this year, the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine expressed hope for the support by official Paris of Ukraine's application for NATO membership and formation of a consensus on this issue among the states-members of the Alliance.
