Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrii Sybiha: "I spoke with Bahrain’s Foreign Minister, Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani.
I briefed my colleague on Russia’s escalating attacks against civilian shipping and port infrastructure in the Black Sea, aimed at undermining global food security and freedom of navigation.
Recent developments around the Strait of Hormuz only underscore how vulnerable critical maritime routes remain and why the international community must act decisively to protect them.
I informed my colleague about Ukraine’s initiative to convene an urgent UN Security Council meeting on Russia’s escalation in the Black Sea. I count on Bahrain’s active engagement as a current non-permanent member of the UN Security Council.
I also expressed Ukraine’s solidarity with the Kingdom of Bahrain following the recent attacks of Iran on its territory and reaffirmed our support for efforts to prevent further escalation in the Gulf.
We also agreed to advance practical Ukraine–Bahrain cooperation, building on the agreements reached during President Volodymyr Zelenskyy’s visit to the Kingdom of Bahrain."
