Grateful to Portugal and its people for their strong support and solidarity with Ukraine. We highly appreciate Portugal’s clear position in support of Ukraine’s EU membership, as well as its consistent efforts to keep Ukraine high on the international agenda. 

We discussed the situation in the Middle East, including evolving security dynamics and the importance of coordinated efforts to enhance regional stability in the broader geopolitical context. 

We also focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation in defense and security. I underlined the importance of the PURL initiative for enhancing Ukraine’s resilience and defence capabilities. 

We agreed on the need to advance international efforts to hold Russia accountable, including through the Special Tribunal. 

We also discussed the importance of unblocking additional pressure tools on Russia, including the 20th sanctions package and the €90 billion loan."
