Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrii Sybiha: "I had a call with Singapore’s Minister for Foreign Affairs Vivian Balakrishnan to discuss our bilateral cooperation, peace efforts, and international developments.
We focused on security threats to Europe and Asia posed by deepening cooperation between Russia and the DPRK. I thanked my colleague for sharing his perspectives following his recent visit to Pyongyang.
I informed Minister Balakrishnan about the latest developments on the battlefield, Ukraine’s successes in long-range sanctions against Russia, and our peace efforts.
Pressure on Moscow remains critical to advancing diplomacy and depriving Putin of any illusions that he can achieve anything on the battlefield. In this view, I emphasized the importance of maintaining international isolation and avoiding any steps that the regime could use to justify its atrocities.
We also discussed the upcoming Ukraine Recovery Conference in Gdansk, which will include a Singaporean delegation, as well as Singapore’s support for the recovery of Ukraine.
In the context of Singapore assuming the rotating Chairmanship of ASEAN next year, we spoke about our cooperation and further contacts. I invited my colleague to visit Ukraine at a convenient time in the near future".
