Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrii Sybiha: "I spoke with Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi and congratulated him on the Liberal Democratic Party’s election victory. 

I reiterated President Zelenskyy’s personal congratulations to Prime Minister Takaichi and our gratitude for Japan’s principled stance in supporting Ukraine.

I informed about the overnight brutal Russian strike against Kyiv, Dnipro, and Odesa.

I also updated my colleague on our peace efforts, the outcomes of the most recent meetings in Abu Dhabi, and next steps. 

This war is not about Ukraine, it’s about principles. And now we have a chance to speed up peace efforts.

Following Russian attacks on our energy infrastructure, I thanked Japan for its timely energy support that helps us mitigate the consequences of Russian strikes.

We agreed to further develop our excellent bilateral cooperation in political, economic, diplomatic, and security dimensions. We will welcome Japan’s active participation and role in the recovery of Ukraine.

We also discussed further contacts on all levels. I invited my colleague to visit Ukraine at the nearest convenient time".
