Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrii Sybiha: "Ahead of President Zelenskyy’s visit to Canada, I began my program with a substantive meeting with my colleague and friend Anita Anand in Toronto. 

We reviewed the follow-up to agreements reached by our leaders, with a focus on delivering concrete results and moving our bilateral agenda forward. 

We focused first on the peace process. We exchanged ideas on how to advance our diplomatic efforts and discussed the important role of Europe in moving them forward. We agreed that preserving unity among partners while engaging countries across different regions of the world remains essential for achieving a comprehensive and lasting peace. 

We also discussed further pressure on Russia. I stressed the importance of moving forward with the use of frozen Russian assets to help cover Ukraine’s financial needs.  

I also raised Ukraine’s initiative to restrict visas and entry for Russian combatants. Those who have participated in Russia’s war against Ukraine should not be free to enjoy the privileges of the democratic world. 

Another important focus was the Black Sea and the secure functioning of Ukraine’s maritime corridor. We discussed possible solutions to unblock freedom of navigation. We also coordinated our preparations for the UN General Assembly High-Level Week in New York and discussed how to use this important diplomatic platform to strengthen global engagement on food security. 

Finally, we aligned our preparations for the Ministerial Conference in Toronto on September 28–29, which Canada, Ukraine, and Norway will co-host, focusing on the return, rehabilitation, and reintegration of deported Ukrainian children, detained civilians, and prisoners of war. We are working together to ensure strong international participation and, most importantly, concrete results for our people."
