Anton Demokhin paid a working visit to the United States of America

On May 3-17, Deputy Foreign Minister for Digital Development, Digital Transformation and Digitalization Anton Demokhin made a working visit to the United States of America (Washington, D.C., New York, and San Francisco).

Speaking at the RSA 2024 cybersecurity conference in San Francisco, one of the most important cybersecurity events in the world, Anton Demokhin emphasized that Ukraine is in the midst of a major war in both physical and cyberspace, which requires maximum coverage on the world's largest platforms.

“It is important that Ukraine's voice is heard at a high level at a key event for those interested in strengthening international cybersecurity at various levels - from communities to corporations and government agencies,” said Anton Demokhin.

During the visit, the Deputy Minister took part in the UN Global Ministerial Roundtable on Strengthening Cybersecurity Capacities, held a number of bilateral and multilateral meetings with foreign partners from the public and private sectors, as well as non-governmental organizations.

In his speech at the UN, Anton Demokhin emphasized that the Russian Federation's war against Ukraine in cyberspace has accelerated the need to significantly strengthen international cooperation to ensure sustainable development and secure cyberspace and invited UN member states to consolidate efforts to raise awareness and strengthen cybersecurity capabilities.

The Ukrainian diplomat also took part in a number of events on cybersecurity, and held meetings with the Minister of Communications and Information of Singapore Josephine Teo, National Director for Cyber Affairs at the Office of the President of the United States Gary Coker, UN Under-Secretary-General Amandeep Singh Gill, Chairman of the UN Open-ended Working Group on the Safety and Security of Information and Communications Technology, Permanent Representative of Singapore to the United Nations Burhan Ghafoor.

During his visit to Washington, the Deputy Minister visited the CRDF Global office, where he met with CEO Mike Dignam and thanked him for his support in implementing projects aimed at raising awareness and capacity of the national cybersecurity system, as well as for the support provided in organizing the visit of the Ukrainian delegation to the United States.

During a meeting with Ambassador-at-Large for Cyberspace and Digital Policy at the U.S. Department of State Nathaniel Fick, the parties discussed practical steps to assist Ukraine in the cyberspace and approaches to further implementing the principles of digital solidarity.

At the meetings with the U.S. State Department, the parties discussed the emphasis on digital transformation and digitalization, the current situation in Ukraine in the field of cybersecurity and cyber threats from Russia. They discussed the need to strengthen support for Ukraine and joint actions to counter disinformation, including those backed by generative artificial intelligence tools.
