On May 23, 2024 Deputy Foreign Minister Iryna Borovets held a meeting with the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Spain to Ukraine Ricardo López-Aranda Jagu.

Iryna Borovets thanked Spain for its unwavering support of Ukraine and recent decisions made following the meeting in the Ramstein format, particularly the announcement of the next powerful defense package.

Ricardo López-Aranda Jagu assured that Spain will continue to address Ukraine's urgent needs to strengthen its security capabilities.

Iryna Borovets noted Spain's active participation in the implementation of President Zelenskyy’s Peace Formula and its promotion among Latin American and African countries, as well as expressed gratitude for the confirmation of the participation of President of the Government of Spain Pedro Sanchez in the Inaugural Peace Summit in Switzerland. The parties agreed on further interaction to encourage the leaders of other countries to participate in the Summit.

During the meeting, special attention was paid to the development and strengthening of relations between Ukraine and LAC countries. The interlocutors coordinated joint steps in this direction for the future, in particular regarding the issue of building effective communication and countering Russian disinformation activity in the region. Separately, during the conversation, the issue of joining efforts to work towards ensuring gender equality was discussed.
