On September 22, 2020, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Yevheniy Yenin held a meeting with the Ambassador of Australia to Ukraine Ms. Melissa O’Rourke on the occasion of the conclusion of her diplomatic assignment in Kyiv.
The Deputy Minister expressed his great appreciation for the work of the diplomat, her personal contribution to the strengthening of the Ukrainian-Australian relations and development of the bilateral cooperation in various areas, in particular the support of Ukraine’s initiatives within the framework of international organizations, including the UN.
In response, the Ambassador thanked the leadership of Ukraine for the created opportunities and provided assistance to make her work in Ukraine and the operation of the Embassy of Australia in Ukraine successful.
During the meeting the parties noted the need to further strengthening the political and diplomatic dialogue between two countries. Some of the topical issues were also discussed, including the work of the JIT on the MH 17 shoot-down, further expansion of trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation between Ukraine and Australia.
Melissa O’Rourke welcomed the inclusion of the Asian vector in the priorities of Ukraine’s foreign policy.
At the end of the meeting Yevheniy Yenin thanked the Ambassador for her significant contribution to the comprehensive development of cooperation between Ukraine and Australia and wished success in her future assignments.
