Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Vasyl Bodnar held bilateral consultations with State Secretary of the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Germany Miguel Berger, during which they discussed acute issues of the development of bilateral dialogue, including high level contacts.

The diplomats discussed trade, economic and investment cooperation, and agreed to coordinate preparatory work on the 4th Ukrainian-German Economic Forum, scheduled to be held in March 2021 in Berlin. 

State Secretary Miguel Berger commended Ukraine's efforts in implementing reforms and suggested to organize bilateral expert consultations to share German experience in creating favourable business environment, protecting foreign investment, and promoting small and medium-sized enterprises.

Vasyl Bodnar underscored Germany’s influential role in the Normandy format and the importance of further close coordination of positions between Kyiv and Berlin on the issues related to stopping the Russian aggression in Donbas. Deputy Foreign Minister Bodnar also expressed hope that Germany would join the Crimean platform, which will be presented soon.

Vasyl Bodnar highlighted Ukraine's priorities and expectations from the Ukraine-EU Summit to be held on October 1, 2020, within the framework of the German EU Presidency.

The Ukrainian diplomat stressed on the importance of professional and unbiased study of common history pages expressing hope for Berlin’s support in the issues of commemorating the Ukrainians who had lost their lives during the World War II, as well as recognizing the Holodomor in Ukraine as an act of genocide.
