The Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmytro Kuleba met with the Prime Minister of Denmark Mette Frederiksen during his visit to Copenhagen.
The head of Ukrainian diplomacy thanked the leader of the Danish government for Denmark’s proactive position in countering Russia’s aggressive intentions, including attempts to destabilize Ukraine.
The Minister expressed gratitude for maintaining the usual mode of operation of the Danish Embassy in Kyiv, reaffirming the position on the prematurity of evacuation of family members and employees of diplomatic missions from Ukraine.
The sides agreed that preventing further escalation of Russian aggression against Ukraine and Europe depends on consolidated international pressure on Russia, combined with the maximum increase of Ukraine’s defense capabilities.
In this context, Dmytro Kuleba praised the decision of the Danish government to allocate 22 million euros to strengthen Ukraine’s security sector within the Peace and Stabilization Program 2022-2025.
The sides agreed on further participation of Denmark in supporting the reform process in Ukraine, particularly via providing technical assistance within the next phase of the Danish Eastern Neighbourhood Programme (DANEP) 2022-2026. It is expected that under the Programme Denmark will allocate 73 million euros for the implementation of projects in Ukraine.
At the request of Dmytro Kuleba, the Prime Minister of Denmark agreed to consider additional opportunities to support Ukraine’s economic and financial stability.
The sides paid special attention to the possibilities for Danish companies to build multi-purpose ships in Ukraine, in particular for the needs of Ukrainian border guards and rescue services.
In this context, it was agreed to begin intergovernmental negotiations on the preparation of a draft bilateral agreement on construction of ships at Ukrainian facilities.
The Minister also raised the issue of increasing a number of permits for Ukrainian carriers by Denmark.
Dmytro Kuleba invited Mette Frederiksen to take part in the 5th International Ukraine Reforms Conference to be held on July 4-5, 2022 in Lugano, Switzerland.
For her part, the Prime Minister confirmed the invitation to the President of Ukraine to visit Denmark at his convenience.
