The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine welcomes the decision of the Office of Foreign Assets Control of the US Department of the Treasury (OFAC), adopted in coordination with the U.S. Department of Justice on April 1, 2025, regarding the introduction of sanctions against six legal entities and two individuals involved in providing Iran's military-industrial complex with the necessary components for the production of UAVs.
Ukraine supports such actions and shares the approach of the United States of America to counter threats posed by Iran. We consider increasing pressure to be a justified measure to limit the access to Iranian weapons by countries that violate international security and global legal order.
Ukraine follows a similar position in its own policy. In May 2023, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine approved the introduction of sectoral special economic sanctions and other restrictive measures against the Islamic Republic of Iran for a period of 50 years, which, in particular, are aimed at restricting the access of Iranian military-industrial complex enterprises to military and dual-use items.
We once again call on the leadership of the Islamic Republic of Iran to stop supplying the Russian Federation with UAVs, components for their production, and other types of weapons, which are regularly and purposefully used by the aggressor state for attacks against peaceful Ukrainian cities and communities, for strikes on critical infrastructure facilities and terror against civilians.
The deepened military-technical cooperation between Moscow and Tehran poses unacceptable threats to both Europe and the Middle East, and therefore the pressure on these two regimes will contribute to strengthening security and stability in both regions.
