On July 22, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Mariana Betsa held phone talks with the Chief Executive Officer of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade of Belize Oscar Arnold.
Mariana Betsa congratulated her counterpart on his recent appointment and reaffirmed Ukraine’s interest in further developing bilateral dialogue with Belize. The parties discussed current issues on the Ukraine–Belize agenda and ways to enhance cooperation at the high level.
The Deputy Minister expressed gratitude to Belize for its consistent support for Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, as well as its unwavering solidarity with the Ukrainian people in the face of Russia’s ongoing aggression. Mariana Betsa briefed her counterpart on the situation on the battlefield and the latest diplomatic efforts aimed at achieving a comprehensive, just, and lasting peace.
During the conversation, the interlocutors paid particular attention to Ukraine’s international initiatives. Mariana Betsa thanked Belize for supporting the UN General Assembly resolution on the return of Ukrainian children and invited Belize to join the International Coalition for the Return of Ukrainian Children. She stressed the importance of further consolidating international efforts to secure the return of Ukrainian children who have been illegally deported and forcibly transferred by Russia.
At the conclusion of the conversation, the parties agreed to continue strengthening cooperation both bilaterally and within international organizations.
