On 6 March, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Olexandr Mischenko paid a working visit to Chisinau, where he held a series of meetings with the leadership of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Defence, and the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Moldova.

During the meeting with State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Moldova Valeriu Mija, the parties held political consultations between the foreign ministries and discussed topical issues of bilateral cooperation, including regional security, joint countering of hybrid threats, the Transnistrian settlement, cross-border cooperation, preparations for the Fourth Black Sea Security Conference to be held on 23 March in Moldova, as well as other aspects of Ukraine–Moldova cooperation. State Secretary Valeriu Mija reaffirmed continued support for Ukraine in the face of Russian aggression, both at the bilateral level and within international organisations, platforms and initiatives.

For his part, Olexandr Mischenko expressed gratitude to the Government of Moldova for the energy assistance provided to Ukraine amid ongoing Russian terrorist attacks against Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, as well as for the support extended to Ukrainian citizens temporarily residing in Moldova due to the aggression. Following the consultations, the parties agreed to strengthen bilateral cooperation across a number of areas.

During the meeting with State Secretary of the Ministry of Defence of the Republic of Moldova Ghenadie Cojocaru, the parties discussed further development of cooperation in the defence and security spheres. The Deputy Minister expressed gratitude to the Moldovan side for its assistance in humanitarian demining of Ukrainian territory, in particular for organising training for Ukrainian sappers. The State Secretary confirmed readiness to continue such support. Particular attention was also paid to the participation of representatives of the defence ministries of both countries in the preparation and holding of the next Black Sea Security Conference.

During the meeting with Foreign Policy Adviser to the President of the Republic of Moldova Olga Rosca, the parties discussed joint steps to deepen cooperation both bilaterally and within international formats and platforms, in particular within the framework of the Odesa Triangle (Ukraine – Moldova – Romania). The parties also paid particular attention to cooperation in the field of European integration, as well as coordination of joint efforts aimed at achieving a sustainable and just peace for Ukraine.
