Ukraine and Japan discuss joint steps at international arena in nuclear disarmament

On 26 October 2020, Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Vasyl Bodnar met with Ambassador of Japan to Ukraine Kurai Takashi.

The sides discussed the nuclear disarmament issues and reaffirmed the joint approaches with regard to the UN General Assembly resolution “Joint Courses of Action and Future-Oriented Dialogue Towards a World Without Nuclear Weapons”.

The interlocutors agreed that the adoption of this resolution would advance the efforts of the international community in the nonproliferation of nuclear weapons, the nuclear disarmament and the control over WMD.

Deputy Minister and Ambassador noted positive cooperation of two countries in the spheres of defense and security, which is taking place in the framework of the memorandum between the defense ministries of Ukraine and Japan.

Vasyl Bodnar and Kurai Takashi agreed to continue holding of the Ukrainian-Japanese cyber-consultations, as well as to strengthen cooperation in the defense and security domains.
