The Third Parliamentary Summit of the International Crimea Platform was held on October 24 in Riga, co-chaired by Ruslan Stefanchuk, Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, and Daiga Mierina, Speaker of the Saeima of the Republic of Latvia. Representatives of more than 70 countries and international organizations took part in the event.
The President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy addressed the summit’s participants. In his speech, the Head of State emphasized that "Russia's attack on the system of international law began with the seizure of Crimea. But to steal another people's land, to deport those who resist, and to break the life of an entire nation, that is everything that Russia does, will never be accepted by the international community."
Representatives of foreign parliaments and parliamentary assemblies once again testified their unwavering support for the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, agreed with the need to implement the provisions of Volodymyr Zelenskyy's Peace Formula as a key tool for ending Russia’s aggression and achieving a sustainable peace in Ukraine.
In the Joint Statement the summit`s participants emphasized their full support of the ongoing struggle of the Ukrainian people against Russia’s aggression, condemned the genocidal practices of the Russian occupation authorities on the territory of the temporarily occupied Crimea against the citizens of Ukraine, in particular the Crimean Tatars, as well as expressed assurances and readiness to continue providing our state with effective assistance in the fight against armed aggression of the Russian Federation until the full restoration of Ukraine`s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
An expert discussion entitled "Deportation of the Crimean Tatar people in 1944: from the recognition of genocide to the restoration of the rights of the Crimean Tatar people in the Ukrainian State" and the screening of the film "The True History of Crimea" were held on the sidelines of the summit.
