On September 17, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Yevhen Perebyinis received copies of credentials from the newly appointed Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany to Ukraine Heiko Thoms.
The Deputy Minister congratulated the Head of the German Mission on the start of his diplomatic activities in our country and highly appreciated the current level of political dialogue between Ukraine and Germany. In addition, the Deputy Minister praised Germany's European leadership in terms of the level of comprehensive assistance provided to Ukraine, in particular in the defence sector, to counter Russian aggression.
During the meeting, the parties discussed cooperation between the two countries on issues of European and Euro-Atlantic integration of our state, the critical needs of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, and the consequences of daily Russian missile and drone attacks. The parties emphasized the need to decisively increase international pressure on the aggressor state in order to achieve a just and lasting peace in Ukraine.
Ambassador Heiko Thoms expressed his respect and admiration for the heroism of the Ukrainian people, assured Germany's unwavering support for Ukraine's sovereignty and territorial integrity, and emphasized Germany's readiness to continue strengthening its military, economic, and humanitarian assistance to Ukraine.
