On June 7, 2024 the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine, Yevhen Perebyinis, paid a working visit to Spain.
While in Madrid, Yevhen Perebyinis held meetings with Diego Martínez Belio, State Secretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation of Spain for External Relations and Global Affairs, as well as Pilar Sánchez-Bella Director of the Department of Foreign Affairs of the Cabinet of the Presidency of the Government of Spain.
During the meetings, the parties discussed practical steps to implement the agreements reached as a result of the official visit of the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy to Spain on May 27, as well as preparations for the Global Peace Summit in Switzerland, which will be held in June this year.
The Deputy Head of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine expressed gratitude to the Spanish side for its firm support of President Zelenskyy's Peace Formula as a way to end Russia's aggressive war against Ukraine and achieve a just and lasting peace based on the norms and principles of international law.
The Ukrainian diplomat also thanked for the decision of the President of the Government of Spain Pedro Sánchez to personally participate in the Global Peace Summit and for the efforts of official Madrid to involve the countries of Latin America, Africa and Asia to participate in the Summit.
During the visit, Yevhen Perebyinis also held meetings with a number of members of the Cortes Generales of Spain, during which they discussed issues related to strengthening the capabilities of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, support by Spanish legislators for Ukraine's European and Euro-Atlantic aspirations, and assistance in implementing the course of reforms that bring our country closer to EU and NATO membership.
Due attention was also paid to the intensifying of interparliamentary dialogue both within the framework of parliamentary assemblies of international organizations and in a bilateral format, which involves the exchange of visits of speakers of the Spanish and Ukrainian parliaments, as well as specialized commissions of the Congress of Deputies of Spain and committees of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
Following the visit, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Yevhen Perebyinis gave an interview to one of the leading Spanish publications "El Mundo".
