On February 6, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Yevhen Perebyinis held a meeting with members of the German-Ukrainian Parliamentary Group for inter-parliamentary relations of the Bundestag of the Federal Republic of Germany, led by its chairman, Robin Wagener.
Yevhen Perebyinis informed the German parliamentarians about the current security situation and the consequences of ongoing Russian terror against Ukraine, particularly strikes against the civilian population and critical infrastructure during extreme frosts. In this context, he emphasized that increasing support for Ukraine from Germany is a key factor in protecting the shared freedom and security of Europe.
The Deputy Minister expressed his gratitude for Germany's leadership, cross-party solidarity, and active inter-parliamentary cooperation. He highly praised the recent decision by the Bundestag to allocate 11.5 billion euros in the 2026 German budget for defense support to Ukraine. "We are grateful to Germany for its principled, consistent, and effective support for Ukraine. Strong parliamentary solidarity in the Bundestag is of decisive importance for strengthening our defense capabilities, resilience, and bringing about a just peace," Yevhen Perebyinis emphasized.
For his part, Robin Wagener stressed that Germany is grateful to Ukraine for defending shared democratic values and noted that the Ukrainian people are protecting not only their own state but are also defending all of Europe from Russian aggression.
Yevhen Perebyinis specifically highlighted the necessity of further increasing pressure on the Russian Federation, including through the expansion of sanctions, countering the circumvention of restrictions, and the use of frozen Russian assets to support and rebuild Ukraine.
The parties also discussed Ukraine's progress on its path toward EU membership and the issues of obtaining security guarantees necessary to achieve a just peace.
