The press tour for representatives of leading media from ten African countries, organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine for the second time, has come to an end.
During the second half of the press tour, the journalists took part in the Third International Food Security Summit ‘Grain from Ukraine’, where they had an opportunity to talk to the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Among other things, the President noted that Ukraine will remain a provider of food security in Africa despite any Russian attacks and blockades. At the same time, the Ukrainian side is also interested in strengthening economic ties.
‘Ukraine is ready not only to supply grain but also to share knowledge, develop processing capacities, introduce advanced technologies and exchange experience in order to increase agricultural production, create jobs, stimulate economic growth and strengthen trade relations around the world,’ the President stressed.
In addition, African journalists took an active part in the Second International Conference ‘Crimea Global. Understanding Ukraine through the South’. Particularly, in the framework of the panel discussion ‘Russian propaganda narratives in different parts of the world. How it affects the perception of Ukraine and Crimea in particular, Guinean journalist Thierno Amadou Camara, publishing director of Guinée114, presented his book ‘Geopolitics of the Russian-Ukrainian War. Impressions of a journalist who returned from Ukraine’, written after a visit to Kyiv and Odesa in 2023.
The journalists also met with the NGO African Council in Ukraine, whose representatives come from different African countries and are actively working to strengthen good relations between Ukraine and the African continent through projects in the areas of public diplomacy, culture, education, trade and economic relations, etc.
As part of the Second Press Tour for African Journalists, which began on 18 November, journalists from Cameroon, Chad, Côte d'Ivoire, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Ghana, Guinea, Nigeria, Senegal, South Africa, Tanzania, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo visited Ukraine.
