On November 26, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Mariana Betsa, as part of her visit to Portugal to participate in the 10th Global Forum of the UN Alliance of Civilizations, held a meeting with Nuno Sampaio, the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs and Cooperation of Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Portugal.
The Deputy Minister expressed gratitude to the Portuguese side for its unwavering support for Ukraine in countering Russia's aggressive war. She noted that the significant escalation of military actions that the Russian Federation is resorting to, involving North Korean troops and striking Ukraine with a new type of ballistic missiles, requires an effective response from partners, as well as increased comprehensive sanctions pressure on the aggressor.
Mariana Betsa emphasized the lack of alternatives to the Peace Formula and the Victory Plan as means of achieving comprehensive, just and sustainable peace in our country, and also thanked the Portuguese side for its active practical participation in the implementation of Ukrainian initiatives.
Nuno Sampaio assured that Portugal will continue to provide Ukraine with the necessary political, diplomatic, military and humanitarian support, as Ukraine's victory will mean the affirmation of common values of freedom and democracy, as well as international rule of law.
The parties also discussed the implementation of a project to reconstruct educational facilities in the Zhytomyr region with the support of Portugal.
