Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrii Sybiha: "I had an important conversation with my colleague Thérèse Kayikwamba Wagner.
I congratulated her on the election of the Democratic Republic of the Congo as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council for 2026-2027 and expressed gratitude for unwavering support for Ukraine’s territorial integrity.
We focused on ways to develop our bilateral dialogue and advance cooperation within the UN in order to bring closer a just peace for Ukraine and the DRC.
I noted that the peace agreement between the Democratic Republic of the Congo and Rwanda, signed with the mediation of the United States in Washington in December 2025, constitutes an important milestone toward achieving a lasting peace in the East of the DRC.
I also reaffirmed Ukraine’s readiness to remain one of the guarantors of the DRC’s food security, including through the “Food from Ukraine” initiative.
We paid special attention to the prospects for humanitarian cooperation, particularly in combating violations of children’s rights."
