On April 2nd, Special Representative of Ukraine for the Middle East and Africa Maksym Subkh held a meeting with the Honorary Consul of the Democratic Republic of the Congo in Ukraine Roman Mehela.
During the meeting, the parties discussed prospects for deepening bilateral relations between Ukraine and the DRC in the political, economic and educational spheres.
Special attention was paid to the issue of Congolese students who had been forced to leave Ukraine at the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion as well as ways to resume their studies at Ukrainian universities.
The parties also examined possibilities for expanding cooperation between the two countries following the opening of the Embassy of Ukraine in Kinshasa in 2024 and the recent arrival of the newly appointed Ambassador of Ukraine to the DRC.
